Bulgaria ranks 4th in EU in GDP growth for 2016 - Eurostat Bulgaria is in fourth place in the European Union (EU) in last year's growth, according to Eurostat's revised gross domestic product (GDP) data for the previous 12 months.
According to the new calculations, in 2016 the indicator increased by 3.9 % or by 0.5% more than the previous estimate. Thus, along with Malta, Ireland, Romania and Spain, our country is among the top 5 of the Member States with the most growth. All EU countries report economic growth, which has not happened for 10 years. The crisis came in 2009 followed by a recession with a minus 3.6% in GDP. In the coming years, however, the economy slowly started recovering, and it reported growth of 3% in 2015. Since then it stays above this line.
